Days -1 Airport transfer
Our safari guide will pick you from Entebbe International airport for a transfer to your preferred hotel in either Kampala or Entebbe. Time permitting go for a brief city tour of either Kampala-the capital city of Uganda or Entebbe town-the colonial administrative city of Uganda. Dinner and Overnight at your preferred hotel.
Day 2 Mabamba Swamp
After breakfast our safari guide will drive you to Mabamba swamp located in close proximity to Kampala. This day excursion will introduce you to Uganda’s avifauna. Arriving at the swamp at 09:30, you will board vintage wooden boats for a human-powered excursion that will take you through the waterways bordered by dense stands of Papyrus and frequent open-water areas. On the boat ride you are likely to see the tiny brilliant Malachite Kingfishers, African Jacanas, African Pygmy-geese, Spur-winged Goose, Hamerkops, the rare Shoebill stork among others. After lunch return to Kampala and prepare for a transfer to Mabira Ecotourism site for an overnight at the Forest.
Day 3 Mabira Forest
After breakfast have a short but informative interpretation about the forest and its features. Take a forest walk through this huge and beautiful forest. The forest guide will guide you through tree identification in the forest. Thunder and lightning overnight, but although overcast this morning it was not raining. On the walk you may see many birds such as Speckled Pigeons, Fire-crested Alethe, Forest Robins, Black-headed (Red-bellied) Paradise-Flycatchers, Brown-throated and Chestnut Wattle-eyes along with African Shrike-Flycatcher, and Cassin's Honey guide, Greenbuls, Tinkerbirds, African Grey, Afep Pigeon, African Emerald Cuckoo, Black and the Yellowbill cuckoos among others. After lunch relax at the picnic site as we prepare to transfer to Jinja. Dinner and overnight at Jinja Resort.
Day4: Jinja and Bujagali falls
After breakfast, visit the source of the Nile and the Bujagali falls found in Uganda’s historical industrial town of Jinja. The drive will take you through the historical old Indian-styled buildings. You will later try out the wonderful experience of the white water rafting over the high grade rapids of the Mighty River Nile. These high grade rapids make rafting to be among the best adrenalin adventure activities Africa can offer. Return to Kampala arriving late in the evening.
Day 5: Kampala to Murchison Falls NP
After breakfast, drive northwards for Murchison Falls National Park located in the north-western part of the country. This scenic drive will pass you through the famous battle zone of the Luweero Triangle. Have a stopover at Masindi town for lunch and then proceed to the Murchison Falls-Uganda’s most beautiful protected area boosting over 450 species of birds and wild game. After lunch drive to the magnificent Murchison falls-the most beautiful falls on the river Nile. Apart from the spectacular scenery don’t forget to look for birds such as the African Pied Wagtail, swifts, Rock Pranticoles and other water birds that can be spotted at the river banks. Day 6: Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, go for a morning game drive on the southern banks of the river. The morning drive will take you through different habitats. On the drive you are most likely to see different animals which include giraffes, Elephants, Bushbucks Lion, Jackal, Hartebeest and a variety of birdlife. Interesting birds included White-shouldered Black-Tit, Black-crowned Tchagra, Senegal and White-browed Coucals, Yellow-billed Shrike, and the common but lovely little Red-cheeked Cordon-bleu Spotted Mourning-Thrush, Brown Twinspot. On the banks of the river a large numbers of Hippos can be seen packed down the trails. Return to the lodge for lunch and later take a launch cruise to the bottom of the falls. On the launch cruise different animals as well as birds can be seen. Interesting bird species include Pel’s Fishing-Owl, king fishers as well as grassland specialists (or opportunists) as Temminck's Courser, Caspian Plovers, lapwings: Senegal, African Wattled, Black-headed and Brown-chested among others. Days 7 and 8: Murchison Falls NP, North of the Nile
After an early check-out of Sambiya River Lodge we shall proceed northwards to the ferry. On the north bank check-in into the Paraa Safari Lodge before we take our first game drive in the northern part of the park. From the northern banks of the river we shall have two days wander in the prominent game tracks of this wonderful park. The vegetation in the northern side of the Nile largely open savannah while the landscape has an even more spacious character. This side is characterized by a number of animals and birds. Birds include dark Chanting-Goshawks, Tawny and Steppe Eagles, Pied (Black-and-white) Cuckoo, Abyssinian Roller, Silver birds, Rufous Sparrow and Speckle-fronted and Northern Brown-throated Weavers, Red-billed Queleas, beautiful Sunbirds among others. Animal species include largely charismatic African mammals which include giraffes, African beasts, elephants, African Cape Buffaloes, the handsome Ugnda Kob, waterbucks,Kongoni (Hartebeests), lions among others.
Day 9: MFNP to Kaniyo Pabidi in Budongo Forest
An early departure from the lovely Paraa Lodge and by ferry and later drive to Kaniyo Pabidi for chimpanzee tracking. Kaniyo Pabidi is an undisturbed area of natural forest within Budongo forest reserve presently managed as an ecotourism site. From this dense tropical rainforest, you will track chimpanzees-the closest relatives to humans. The forest is also rich in birdlife while a walk through the forest is memorable and one of the most interesting in the African jungle. Dinner and overnight in Masindi town
Day 10: Masindi to Fort Portal and Kibale National Park
After breakfast we shall embark on a fairly long travel day that will lead us to Fort portal town, a beautiful town overlooking the mountains of the moon. Taking the Western scenic route to Kibale National Park, this journey will take you through the Albertine rift found in the Western arm of Great East African rift valley. Reaching Fortportal early evening relax and refresh from this long journey.Dinner and overnight at Ndali lodge/ Crater Valley Kibale/ Mantana Tented Camp.
Day 11: Kibale National Park and environs
After breakfast, transfer to kibale forest national park for chimpanzee tracking. Take a walk in search for Chimpanzees. While on the track you will be able to encounter other different primate species which include Red-Colobuses, grey cheeked Mangabeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, the blues as well as other wildlife such as butterflies, birds and many other small insects. Your tour guide will guide you through tree identification in the forest as well as in explaining to you the other features of the forest. After tracking return to the lodge for lunch after which you will take a nature walk through the Bigodi Swamp. On the walk different birds and mammals can be seen. Day 12: Fort Portal to Semliki NP
From Fort portal you will be transferred to anther beautiful national park in the western part of the country-Semiliki national park. Situated in a remote corner of southwestern Uganda, Semliki National Park protects an eastern extension of the vast Ituri Forest and forms part of a forest continuum that stretches across the Democratic Republic of Congo to the Zaire River. This rainforest is one of the richest areas for forest birds in Africa. From this forest expect seeing different birds such as the Congo Serpent Eagle, Long-tailed Hawk, Nkulengu Rail, Black-wattled Hornbill and Lyre-tailed Honey guide among others. After having our packed lunch we will visit the trail to the hot springs, passing through the wettish, dark swamp-like forest with numerous palms. Dinner and overnight at Bundibugyo.
Day 13: Semliki National Park
Early morning entry into Semliki national park for a nature walk through this dense Ituri tropical forest. Later we will set off on the Kirumia River trail which is characterized by a number of birds endemic to the Albertine rift. Late afternoon we shall depart for Fort Portal town arriving late in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Ndali lodge? Mountains of the moon hotel.
Day 14: Fort Portal-Queen Elizabeth
After breakfast drive to Queen Elizabeth National park. You will enter the park while viewing the mystical Rwenzori Mountain range. With a game drive en-route you may see different animals which include the comical warthogs, lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, hyenas and a variety of antelope species. After lunch, proceed to Kazinga Channel for a launch cruise. On the cruise different animals can be seen drinking water along the shores. These include hippos, elephants, buffaloes as well as water birds. Dinner and Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge – Full board
Day 15: Queen Elizabeth National Park
After a cup of coffee embark on an early morning game drive along Kasenyi tracks and Queens mile in the park and expect to see lions, elephants, cape buffalos, warthogs, spotted hyenas, mongoose, waterbucks, kobs and, if lucky, the leopard, plus a lot of small animals and birds. Drive back to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon drive to Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth via Maramagambo Forest for dinner and overnight at Savannah Hotel.
Day 16: The Ishasha sector
After breakfast take a game drive on a search of the famous tree climbing lions which are always spotted clinging on old fig trees. A drive trough this open savannah landscape characterized with a variety of acacia trees is quite a memorable adventure. Proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National found in the southern part of the country. Time permitting we will make a visit to the local communities to have an adventure of Uganda’s rural communities or relax at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Homestead.
Day 17: Gorilla tracking
An early breakfast and entry into the gorilla sanctuary of the spectacular Bwindi Impenetrable forest. This tropical moist forest is a home to half of the remaining mountain gorillas that are consecrated in dramatic, heavily forested and dense landscapes. Looking into the deep eyes of the rare, moving and fascinating mountain gorillas is quite an unforgettable experience that you can only receive from Uganda. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Homestead.
Day 18: Bwindi national park
After having breakfast, we shall go for a nature walk through the Bwindi Impenetrable forest. We shall take different opportunities offering diverse opportunities to see and learn about primates, birds, butterflies, trees and other biomes. The Munyaga trail will take you through habitats for birds and primates while the waterfall trail provides an excellent feature involving a profusion of tree ferns, epiphytic ferns, orchids and Bwindi’s array of butterflies. Other trails that you can take include the Rushura Trail, Muzabajiro Loop, and The River Ivi trail. Dinner and Overnight at Buhoma Homestead.
Day 19: Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, we shall take a scenic drive to Kabale taking you through the beautiful terrain of the rolling hills with terraced landscape. The scenery and the cool temperatures have awarded this area to be referred to as the "Switzerland of Africa” sine it nearly resembles the Swiss Alps. We shall have a convenient stopover at the Bakiga Museum in Kabale to discover the culture of the people living in the area. After having lunch, take a boat ride on Africa’s second deepest lake. The boat ride will take you to various islands for bird viewing and sight seeing. Dinner and overnight at accomodation of your choice.
Day 20: Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Mburo National Park, the smallest savanna national park in Uganda. Reaching Mbarara by lunch time, have lunch at Lake View Regency Hotel. Take an evening game drive through the park. On the drive you expect seeing beautiful impalas, cape buffalos, zebras, oribis, elands and topi. Along with the game drive, many visitors also enjoy a boat trip on Lake Mburo. A number of acacia associated and water birds can also be seen in the park. These include Papyrus gonoleks, Brown-faced lapwings, Carruther’s cisticolas, the extraordinary White winged Warbler and Bare-faced Go-away bird. Dinner and overnight at Mantana Tented Camp.
Day 21: Lake Mburo National Park-Kampala
Start your day with an early morning game drive through the park and later return to the lodge for breakfast. Go for a guided nature walk to the salt lick area where there is a blind observatory animal that can allow you to see more than four different animal species licking salt from the salty soils. After having lunch, embark on the drive to Kampala having a stopover at the Equator for some photos arriving in Kampala late evening. Dinner and Overnight at Kampala.
Day 22: UWEC & Ssese Islands
After having breakfast, you will be transferred to Uganda Wildlife Education centre found in Uganda’s past colonial administration town of Entebbe. From this exsitu conservation area the tour guide will take you through different exhibits and adequate you with more information concerning Uganda’s mammals, reptiles and birds. After this brief tour, you will board the ferry boat which will take you to Ssese Islands, an archipelago of 84 islands on Lake Victoria. The navigation will take you to the beautiful bay of Lutoboka, in Bugala Island, for dinner and overnight at Mirembe Resort Beach.
Day 23: Bukasa Island
After breakfast, take an excursion to Bukasa Island, the second largest island in the Ssese island archipelago. The exploration of Bukasa Islands characterized by beautiful lake shores and forested lands give an unforgettable experience. Have lunch and continue with your expedition in the Islands. Return to Bugala islands by evening having dinner overnight at Mirembe Resort Beach.
Day 24: On the beach at Bugala Island
Spend this day relaxing at the white serene sandy beaches. Other activities include swimming in the uncontaminated and transparent water of Lake Victoria, fishing in the waters of Lake Victoria characterized by numerous fish species, or hire a bicycle to explore the island and the forest. You will be surprise by such pleasant atmosphere. Optional activities: sport fishing. Dinner and overnight at Mirembe Resort Beach.
Day 25: Return to Entebbe
After breakfast, return to Entebbe.
